Girl, 12, Among Two Shot In South Side Drive-By

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man and a 12-year-old girl were hurt in a drive-by shooting Tuesday night in the South Side Oakland community.

They were shot in the 3900 block of South Lake Park Avenue about 7:50 p.m., police News Affairs Officer Daniel O'Brien said, citing preliminary information.

A 12-year-old girl and a man, 28, were both shot in the leg in the drive-by attack, O'Brien said.

The girl was taken to University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital, while the man was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, O'Brien said. Their injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.

Area Central detectives are investigating.
