Sunny And Comfortable, But Breezy, Afternoon On Tap

CHICAGO (CBS) -- The sun is shining brightly and temperatures will be comfortable Thursday afternoon, but you can be sure that the sweltering summer is a memory now.

CBS 2 Meteorologist Megan Glaros says the high for Thursday will be a comfortable 70. As of 11:20 a.m., it was a 66 in Waukegan, 67 at O'Hare International Airport, Aurora and Joliet, 68 at Midway Airport, and 69 in Kankakee.

The winds won't blow send objects flying out of your hands as they might have on Wednesday, but they will be blowing in from the west at sustained speeds in the teens, with gusts in to the 20s in miles per hour.

And as for the temperature, the Chicago area is pretty well stuck in a fall-like rut. The jet stream is sagging down to keep conditions on the cooler side as far south as Kentucky, and that won't be changing anytime soon.

The overnight low will drop to 52 under partly cloudy skies. The high on Friday climbs to 65, with a 65 percent chance of showers – particularly in the second half of the day.

The high for Saturday is a mere 59 degrees, with rain. The high on Sunday climbs to 60, Monday back up to 68, Tuesday 72 and Wednesday 71.

The high for Saturday is 62, Sunday 63, Monday 68 and Tuesday 70.
