Wolves Remained Undefeated With Shootout Win

ABBOTSFORD, B.C.---The Chicago Wolves remained undefeated as they produced a 3-2 shootout victory Friday night before a pro-Wolves crowd of 6,871 at Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre.

Goaltender Eddie Lack stopped 27 shots in regulation and overtime before repelling all three of Abbotsford's shootout tries for the Wolves (4-0-0-0).

Right wing Zack Kassian and center Nathan Longpre scored in regulation while center Jordan Schroeder, right wing Darren Haydar and Kassian tallied during the shootout.

The Wolves opened the scoring at 9:45 of the second period as center Andrew Ebbett set up Kassian at the blue line. Kassian roared down the left side past the defense and beat Abbotsford goaltender Danny Taylor (2-0-1) on the short side.

Abbotsford (2-0-0-1) pulled even on Tyler Ruegsegger's power-play goal at 2:06 of the third. Krys Kolanos' slapshot deflected off Ruegsegger and sneaked past Lack.

The Wolves didn't wait long to regain the lead. Longpre fought through traffic around the net to tap the puck home at 3:55 of the third. Abbotsford answered with Roman Horak's power-play goal at 5:02.

The Wolves, who are off to the second 4-0-0-0 start in their 19-year history, have yet to trail in 252 minutes and 59 seconds this season.
