Man Riding Bike Struck, Killed By Car In Skokie
SKOKIE (CBS) -- A 68-year-old man died early Friday after being struck by a vehicle while riding a bicycle in north suburban Skokie.
Robert McKenny, of the 8600 block of Niles Center Road in Skokie, was pronounced dead at St. Francis Hospital in Evanston at 1:05 a.m. according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
A vehicle fatally struck McKenny, who was riding a bicycle at Main Street and Skokie Highway, according to the medical examiner's office.
Police said the bicyclist was at fault. He was riding west across Skokie between cars, and the driver tried to avoid the bicyclist, but struck him and then a light pole.
The 30-year-old driver was not injured. Alcohol was not a factor, police said.
