CHICAGO (STMW) — Four people were injured — three critically — in an accident on the Kennedy Expressway early Saturday.

The two-vehicle crash happened about 1:30 a.m. of the inbound lanes at the Kennedy Expressway at the Jackson Boulevard exit, according to a Illinois State Police District Chicago spokesperson.

Three people were taken to hospitals in critical condition; one to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, one to Mount Sinai Hospital, and another to John H. Stroger Hospital of Cook County, according to Fire Media Affairs.

An additional person was taken to John H. Stroger Hospital of Cook County in serious condition, Fire Media Affairs said.

The accident caused authorities to initiate an EMS Plan 1, which sends at least five ambulances to the scene of an accident.
