Firefighter Injured In Apartment Blaze On South Side

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Chicago firefighters battled three blazes on Friday morning, and one a firefighter was injured on the South Side.

The firefighter was on the first floor of a vacant apartment building in the 300 block of East 73rd Street when the floor gave way.

The firefighter fell into the basement and apparently suffered a broken arm.

He was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

There were no injuries but six people were displaced by an extra alarm fire in the 8700 block of South Escanaba Avenue.

There were no injuries reported in a third fire, in the 4300 block of South Wood Street.
