Alvarez Calls '60 Minutes' Story Incomplete

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Cook County States Attorney Anita Alvarez has sent a letter to CBS News, complaining about the way she was portrayed in a "60 Minutes" segment last Sunday.

The story, which aired last Sunday, suggests that Alvarez has resisted efforts to exonerate people who had confessed to crimes they didn't commit and defended police officers who may have railroaded the suspects.

Alvarez said the story ignored safeguards now in place against false confessions and her role in the cases highlighted.

She said she is the one who went into court to have the cases dismissed against the suspects--and that had occurred before the interview took place.

Alvarez says the interview with her presented a picture that was unfair and incomplete.
