1,000 ComEd Customers Without Power Friday After Winter Storm

CHICAGO (STMW) -- About 1,000 Commonwealth Edison customers are still without power Friday afternoon following Thursday's winter storm.

"We expect to have most customers restored by Friday night," a ComEd spokeswoman said, adding that a few pockets will be restored Saturday.

The majority of customers without power Friday are in the western region of Illinois hit hardest by the storm, including Rockford and the Quad Cities, the spokeswoman said.

More than 100,000 total customers lost power because of the storm, according to ComEd.

On Thursday, a winter storm with gusts up to 50 miles-per-hour knocked out power and caused airlines to cancel more than 500 flights at O'Hare and Midway airports.
