CHICAGO (STMW) — A teenager died two days after he accidently shot himself in the head at his home in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side, authorities said Saturday.

Kentan Scott, 15, was playing with a gun at his home in the 4800 block of West Quincy Street about 8 p.m. Thursday when the gun fired, authorities said, adding that Scott’s mother and friends found him shortly after.

He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he died Saturday at 9:53 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

Police said they have preliminarily ruled the shooting accidental.
