Expert Picks: Bears Get It Done In Detroit

(CBS) Here we go. The season is on the line. Our experts from 670 The Score, CBS2 and WBBM Newsradio 780 & 105.9 FM make their picks as the Bears head to Detroit trying to get into the playoffs:

Brian Hanley Dan McNeil Terry Boers
Bears 17, Lions 16 Bears 27, Lions 17 Lions 24, Bears 20
The Bears need to jump on Detroit right away. If they do, the Lions should quit by halftime. If the Bears allow Detroit to get an early lead, the Lions will win. Ford Field was a disaster for the Bears offensive line last year (eight false starts) and could be again. Still, the Bears should be able to muscle out another win with their defense. The late, great Dick Hammer, proud member of the American Motorcycle Hall of Fame, always told me that he suffered from pounding headaches. Kind of like Bears football. Make it stop.

Hub Arkush Dan Hampton Matt Spiegel
Bears 24, Lions 20 Bears 25, Lions 17 Bears 24, Lions 21
The Bears will be focused on winning and will do it ugly once again with at least 10 points courtesy of turnovers and the defense. The celebration will be delayed about 3.5 hours until they get their belated Christmas gift from the Packers -- and they will get it. Sounds easy on paper, but any team that can throw for 5000 yards in a season is a tough out. Hopefully Jay Cutler won't see Lomas Brown talking to J'Marcus Webb before the game! More defensive scores lead to a Bears win. The Lions' secondary gives up just barely enough. It's Earl Bennett with a big touchdown in the 4th, and the defense holds off a furious late Matthew Stafford drive to keep playoff hopes alive.

Ben Finfer Matt Abbatacola Adam Hoge
Bears 27, Lions 17 Bears 51, Lions 19 Bears 24, Lions 17
The Bears are playing for something while the Lions quit weeks ago. Not to mention you can always count on a few dumb mistakes by a Jim Schwartz-coached team. Maybe even by Jim Schwartz himself. I dedicate this pick to all the idiots that want to trade Jay Cutler for draft picks. Thanks for being stupid. It wouldn't shock me if the Bears find a way to lose, but the vibe at Halas this week was serious. The players know a lot more than the playoffs are on the line. Plus, when in doubt, pick against the dumbest team in football.
Record: 12-3 Record: 10-5 Record: 11-4
Ryan Baker Megan Mawicke Josh Liss
Lions 24, Bears 13 Bears 21, Lions 10 Lions 6, Bears 3
Unless my Lion eyes deceive me, Detroit plays playoff spoiler and beats the Bears. The Bears are in a must-win situation again and they will rise to the occasion, although it won't pretty... again. The defense will be the Bears' offense with Cutler & Co. still struggling to find a rhythm. Happy New (coach?) Year.
