St. Anthony Hospital Delivers Chicago Area's First Baby Of 2013

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A baby boy born eight minutes after midnight was the first baby of the New Year for the Chicago area this year.

Aydan Alvarado was born at 12:08 a.m. at Saint Anthony Hospital. He weighs 7 pounds, 3 ounces.

His parents, Georgina Acosta and Fernando Alvarado, are from the Little Village neighborhood. They celebrated with hospital staff as a lullaby was played throughout the hospital.

It's a tradition to play the song with every birth at the hospital.

Fifteen minutes later, another New Year's baby was born at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.

The 5-pound, 12-ounce girl was born at 12:23 a.m. Her parents, Aileen Herrera and Eduardo Jimenez, are from Arlington Heights. They have two other daughters.

The baby does not have a name yet.
