CHICAGO (CBS) -- Investigators say a DNA indexing system led them to the man accused of a sexual assault on Chicago's North Side.

The system is operated by the FBI, and it allows police to cross-check DNA in suspects across the country.

James Shorty of Momence is due in court on Wednesday.

The attack happened Dec. 19 near the Morse CTA station on the Red Line.

Shorty is charged with sexual assault and aggravated kidnapping.
