Cops: 1 Dead, 1 Wounded In Near North Side Shooting

CHICAGO (STMW) -- One man was killed, and another was wounded, in a Tuesday night shooting on the Near North Side, police said.

The men -- 20 and 31 -- were shot about 6:15 p.m. in the 1300 block of North Sedgwick Street, police said.

The older man was shot multiple times and pronounced dead at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, police said.

The 20-year-old was shot in the back and was in critical but "stable" condition at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, police and fire officials said.

Both people shot had gang affiliations, but a motive has not been confirmed, police said. Area North detectives are investigating.

The death will be the 14th homicide of 2013, pending the results of an autopsy. Additionally, Chicago Police have fatally shot one person this year.
