Elgin Man Charged With Raping Sleeping Woman

ELGIN (STMW) -- A northwest suburban Elgin man charged with raping a sleeping woman was ordered held on $75,000 bond Thursday.

Tracy Haugabook, 32, of the Times Square Apartments in Elgin, was charged with a Class 1 felony count of criminal sexual assault of a person not able to give consent, stemming from an incident in September 2011.

According to police, the victim told officers she had been drinking at a friend's home and woke up to find Haugabook — a friend's boyfriend — standing over her, with her pants down.

Prosecutors said a rape kit came back with Haugabook's DNA, police said. In Elgin bond court Thursday, his bail was set at $75,000, and he was assigned a Jan. 24 court date.
