Car Chase Sends 2 To The Hospital

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A car speeding away from police ended up crashing into two other vehicles Sunday night on the Southwest Side, sending the speedster and another driver to the hospital, police said.

Shortly before midnight, police officers saw a car speeding near 79th Street and Ashland Avenue in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood, police said.

The officers followed the car to the 4400 block of South Pulaski Road, where it crashed into two vehicles, police said.

A 25-year-old man behind the wheel of the speeding car was injured, said police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer, and a 20-year-old woman inside one of the other vehicles was also hurt. Both were in good condition at Mount Sinai Hospital.

The driver of the speeding car was taken into custody, Greer said, and charges were pending Monday morning.
