Report: Hossa Does Not Have A Concussion, Could Play Friday

(CBS) Marian Hossa's father told a Slovakian newspaper that his son did not suffer a concussion Tuesday and has not been ruled out for Friday's game against the Sharks.

Hossa was elbowed in the back of the head by Canucks winger Jannik Hansen in Tuesday's win over Vancouver and Hansen has since been suspended for one game. Hossa was down on the ice for about minute, bringing back flashbacks to last year's playoffs when Coyotes forward Raffi Torres launched himself into Hossa, giving him a serious concussion.

But based on what Hossa's father told the Slovakian newspaper SME after talking to Marian on the phone, the winger should be fine.

"He was at home, he felt quite well," Frantisek Hossa said. "He does not have a concussion. On Thursday, he waited for medical examinations. After that, they'll decide whether he will be able to start in Friday's game against San Jose. "

Hossa was on the ice when the Blackhawks started practice Thursday morning.
