Woman Shot In West Ridge

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A 21-year-old woman was shot in the neck early Sunday in the West Ridge neighborhood on the Far North Side.

The shooting occurred about 12:15 a.m. near the intersection of West Rosemont and North Claremont avenues, said News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro.

The woman was sitting in the passenger side of a vehicle when an unknown male appraoched and shot.

After being shot, the woman ran to the intersection of North Western and West Devon avenues where she was later found by police, Alfaro said.

She was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston and is in "stable" condition, Alfaro said.

Area North detectives are investigating, but no one is in custody.
