Eastbound I-80/94 Reopens After Crash Involving 3 Semis

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Eastbound travel has resumed on Interstate 80/94 after a morning crash closed the expressway to one direction of travel Monday morning.

As of about 7:30 a.m., just one of the expressway's eastbound lanes was opened by authorities investigating the crash, just east of the Illinois-Indiana state line, near Calumet Avenue, according to the Indiana Department of Transportation.

Three eastbound lanes of travel remain closed, according to an INDOT traffic alert.

Westbound traffic on the expressway has also slowed to a crawl, the alert stated.

It is unclear if there were any injuries as a result of the collision, or what time the crash took place. At least three semi-trucks were involved, according to Indiana State Police.

The INDOT traffic alert advises travelers to use alternate routes to bypass the collision.
