CHICAGO (CBS) -- A new trend in healthy choices in vending machines is giving consumers looking for a quick snack an alternative to high-calorie sodas or fattening snacks and candy bars.

A company called HealthVend specializes in bringing healthy snacks and drinks to vending machines in convenience stores, schools and government buildings.

The snacks meet nutritional guidelines set by the USDA.

HealthVend focuses on distribution of a variety of snacks and drinks, depending on market needs.

"Consumers are calling out for healthier and all-natural alternatives to the processed foods of the previous generation," said Frank Viviano, regional manager of MADE Drinks Co., a maker of organic fruit teas and HealthVend client. "We are excited about the possibility of meeting the changing needs of the market with HealthVend."
