$250K Bond For Motorist Charged In Fatal Hit-And-Run On SW Side

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Bond was set at $250,000 Sunday for a motorist charged in connection with a hit-and-run accident that killed a 58-year-old woman walking in the Southwest Side Brighton Park neighborhood Thursday night.

Neighbors are mourning the loss of a woman, they describe, as a family caregiver, whose life was taken by a hit and run driver Thursday reports WBBM's Michele Fiore.

Dan Skrzypczynski has lived a few doors down from 58-year-old Ida Quintanilla for more than 20 years.

"We just had good conversations, conversations of our family," said Skrzypczynski

What he learned is how much of a giver Quintanilla has been for her family.

"She has got an elderly father who lives in the same building. She was certainly instrumental in his care," said Skrzypczynski.

In addition, Skrzypczynski says Quintanilla's husband's on kidney dialysis. As a nurse outside the home, she would also assist him with that, and often times, take care of her grandchildren.

40-year-old Fernando Marin was charged with not giving the right of way to a pedestrian in the Thursday night accident in the 4500 block of South Archer that killed this much loved woman.
