Cubs Claim Moscoso From Blue Jays
(CBS) The Cubs claimed right-handed reliever Guillermo Moscoso off waivers from the Toronto Blue Jays Wednesday.
Moscoso, 29, has a 4.16 ERA in 57 major league appearances, including 24 starts over four seasons with Texas (2009-10), Oakland (2011) and Colorado (2012). In 2011, he made 21 starts with the Athletics, but was primarily a reliever with the Rockies last season, making 20 of 23 appearances out of the bullpen.
Moscoso could make the major-league roster as the last reliever or he'll head to Triple-A Iowa. He started spring training with the Kansas City Royals before being claimed by Toronto.
To make room for Moscoso on the 40-man roster, right-handed pitcher Arodys Vizcaino was placed on the 60-day disabled list as he continues to recover from Tommy John surgery.
