LEROY, Ind. (STMW) — A Crown Point teen was killed when he went airborne on his dirt bike and landed on a fence post on Saturday night in Leroy.

Matthew Soper, 16, was transported to Franciscan St. Anthony Health in Crown Point, where he died from severe internal injuries.

Indiana Conservation officers said the incident occurred around 6:45 p.m. when Soper and three friends were riding at a property they were unfamiliar with.

Lake County Sheriff Department, Crown Point Police Department, and Lake of the Four Seasons Fire & EMS assisted the Indiana Department of Natural Resources at the scene.
