Cross-Dressing Shoplifters In 'Bad Wigs And Cheap Clothes' Hit Gold Coast Stores

Cross-Dressing Thieves Strike Gold Coast

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Some men, dressed as women, have been hitting fancy Gold Coast stores - not to shop, but, to shoplift.

WBBM Newsradio's Regine Schlesinger reports three thieves struck this week at Furla, which sells expensive handbags just off the Magnificent Mile at 106 E. Oak St.

A Furla manager said two of the three men were the same cross-dressers who hit the store a couple weeks ago.

"They were carrying Forever 21 bags in front of them, like shopping-type bags, and they were in and out in about 10 seconds," he said. "They knew what they were going for. … Each one of them grabbed a bag out of each window, and they were gone."

Each of the stolen bags was worth about $400. The manager said he's been told the same thieves have stolen from other Gold Coast stores as well.

He described them as wearing "bad wigs and cheap clothes."
