Body Of Newborn Found In Fast-Food Restaurant

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Workers at a Calumet City fast-food restaurant made a horrifying discovery on Thursday: the body of newborn girl in the bathroom.

Employees at the Popeye's Chicken, 4 Sibley Blvd., found the full-term newborn in the women's bathroom.

The infant was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

So far, there is no information about the baby's parents.

Illinois has a "Safe Haven" law that allows parents to relinquish newborns -- babies 30 days old or younger -- at specified locations, such as staffed emergency rooms, police stations and firehouses.
