Man With Cane Robs North Side Bank Branch

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A bank branch inside of a North Side grocery store was robbed Saturday morning.

A man robbed a TCF Bank branch inside of a Jewel-Osco grocery store in the 4200 block of North Lincoln Avenue in the North Center neighborhood at 10:10 a.m., police News Affairs Officer Jose Estrada said.

Nobody was injured in the robbery and the man did not display or imply that he had a weapon, Estrada said. He fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The suspect was described as a white male in his 30s with medical tape or gauze on his face, Estrada said. He was wearing a red and white beanie, a burgundy coat and blue jeans and carried a cane.

No one is in custody as Area North detectives investigate.
