Motorist Wounded In West Town Drive-By Shooting

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A motorist was wounded during a drive-by shooting early Sunday in the West Town neighborhood on the North Side.

The driver and his female acquaintance were inside a pickup truck in the 900 block of North Ashland Avenue at 5:15 a.m. when a SUV pulled up alongside and someone inside opened fire, police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said.

The 30-year-old male driver suffered a graze wound to his left torso and refused medical treatment, Mirabelli said. No one else was injured.

The victim has gang affiliations, police said.

Area Central detectives are investigating.
