Police in Denver say he stepped out into the street and was hit by a car.

King was a student at the University of Denver.

He graduated from New Trier. New Trier Football Offensive Coordinator Mike Napolean says King always gave his all.

"We describe people that never quit and are going 100 percent all the time as guys with high motors. And he had a high motor. Which means that he had a great work ethic and never stopped."

We spoke with Coach Napolean just after he'd gotten back from New Trier's Run to Remember - an annual fundraiser in memory of the high school's students and faculty who have died.

He says King's recent death was on the minds of many people.
