Bishop Ford Remains Closed Due To Flooding

CHICAGO (CBS) -- The Bishop Ford Expressway remains closed Friday morning, one day after torrential rains pounded Chicago and the suburbs, dumping over five inches of rain.

"The hotspot right now is the Bishop Ford where we still have standing water," said Master Sgt. Rodney Collins of the Illinois State Police.

The expressway is closed from the merger with the Dan Ryan, down to 147th Street, state police said.

Collins reported that a Bishop Ford Expressway feeder ramp that starts at South Stony Island Avenue and East 103rd Street is also closed.

Southwest of Joliet, the southbound lanes of Interstate 55 are closed between Interstate 80 and Route 6, state police said.

Chicago Police reported that there are no major flooding-related road closures.
