CHICAGO (CBS) -- Tuesday's rain means new worries for people battling flood waters across Chicagoland.

In Fox Lake, dozens of homes are still flooded and Tuesday's rain will slow the receding waters along the Fox River and Chain O' Lakes.

The same is true for residents along the Des Plaines, Illinois and DuPage rivers. Farther downstream, however, the Illinois River continues to rise.

A quarter inch of rain fell in Fox Lake but with the waterways already swollen that little amount can keep water levels steady.

In Des Plaines, police were have a hard time keeping drivers from blowing though barriers and driving through flooded streets.

Emergency management officials say water isn't expected to get any higher, but the rain will slow the recovery.

Gov. Pat Quinn will seek federal disaster aid for the affected areas.

In addition to widespread flooding in downstate Marseilles, the dam there was damaged when barges broke loose.
