Firefighters Douse Extra-Alarm Fire In Park Manor

CHICAGO (STMW) -- An extra-alarm blaze broke out early Monday afternoon in the South Side Park Manor neighborhood.

A second alarm was called about 12:15 p.m. and a third alarm at about 12:35 p.m. for a one-story building in the 6800 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue, according to Fire Media Affairs.

The fire is in a vacant, 200-by-200-foot commercial building, Fire Media Affairs said.

The vacant building appears to have formerly housed a car wash and auto body shop.

CTA buses in the area resumed its normal routes about 3:30 p.m. after traffic was cordoned off on Cottage Grove Avenue, according to a CTA alert.

No injuries were reported, Fire Media Affairs said.

The fire was extinguished at 1:15 p.m., Fire Media Affairs said.
