Fire Reported At Calumet City Middle School

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Fire crews are on the scene of a fire at a Calumet City middle school.

The call came in around 9 a.m. of a fire and "smoke showing" at Dirksen Middle School, 1650 S. Pulaski.

Calumet City Police Chief Dan Zorzi said there was a small fire on the second floor that was quickly extinguished.

As of 9:30, there was no visible smoke coming from the building. Video from Chopper 2 HD showed groups of children standing outside the school on the lawn.

Fire and police were still on the scene conducting an investigation.

Students returned to class later in the morning.
