5 Hurt In Crash In Portage Park

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Five people, at least one of them a child, were injured in a traffic crash on the Portage Park neighborhood Tuesday morning.

An EMS Plan I response, which sends at least five ambulances to the scene, was called for the crash in the 5100 block of West Addison Street just before 8 a.m., according to Fire Media Affairs.

According to preliminary reports, five vehicles were involved in the accident, police said. No additional details on the crash were available yet.

Five people, three of them in serious to critical condition, were taken to hospitals from crash.

Those in serious to critical condition were taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, and Lurie Children's Hospital, Fire Media Affairs said.

Two others, in fair to serious condition, were taken to Our Lady of the Resurrection Medical Center.

The ages of the victims, including the one who went to Lurie Children's Hospital, were not immediately available.

Because of the crash and the ensuing cleanup and police investigation, the CTA's No. 152 Addison buses were temporarily rerouted in both directions via Addison, Laramie, Irving Park, Cicero, and Addison, according to a CTA rider alert.

The EMS Plan I was secured just after 8:30 a.m.
