Special Mass For Expectant Mothers Held At Holy Name
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Cardinal George presided over a special mass at Holy Name Cathedral today, honoring expectant mothers, reports WBBM's Michele Fiore.
Some expected the blessing, some did not. Patty Stevens says two years ago when she was pregnant with her daughter, she attended Mother's Day mass at Holy Name, and got pretty emotional when Cardinal George asked her and other moms-to-be to step forward.
"To be here and have the Cardinal be here and give you that special blessing, it just means a lot," said Stevens.
Each received a white rose. Stevens is due in just two weeks. Nothing was going to hold her back from attending mass this Mother's Day, well, nothing except if a baby wanted to make an early arrival, but that didn't happen.

Stevens brought her-now 22-month-old daughter to Holy Name Cathedral for the mass, along with her husband and parents, because she wanted them to all share in this special day, as they await the arrival of baby two.
Cardinal George told those in attendance that our mothers were the first to teach us how to love. He says women have been chosen to give, nurture and sustain life.
Cardinal George prayed for couples who have gone through miscarriage, and for those who have kept the secret sorrow of abortion. He said, you don't have to be perfect to be loved by Christ.
