(CBS) Though the credibility of the report is questionable, Carlos Marmol denied rumors he said he “can’t wait” to leave Chicago.

Earlier this week, a report was published on a Cubs-related blog citing a “neighbor” of Marmol’s, who claimed he eavesdropped on a meeting between Marmol and his agents where the Cubs closer said he “can’t wait” to get out of the Cubs organization.

Social media quickly took over and the apparently erroneous report made its way through that channels of the Internet.

“It’s not true,” Marmol told the Sun-Times. “I don’t want to go anywhere. I can’t wait for (the Cubs) to do something so I can stay here. I love Chicago. I love being here. I love my teammates. I love everybody here.
