CHICAGO (STMW) — A search warrant executed Saturday led Chicago police to recover more than $500,000 in stolen chocolate, alcohol and other merchandise from a South Side warehouse.

According to a statement from police News Affairs, the goods were recovered from a warehouse in the 2600 block of West 35th Street as a result of an investigation conducted by the department’s Intelligence Section.

Several pallets of Ghirardelli chocolate products valued at $150,000 were recovered from the warehouse, in addition to $175,000 worth of alcohol, a pallet of BMW auto parts and multiple pallets of cement water fountains, police said.

Police said several stolen vehicles were also recovered from the parking lot outside the warehouse, including three full-length trailers, two semi-tractors, a cargo van and a cargo truck.

The Illinois State Police Cargo Theft Unit assisted in the investigation, police said.
