White Sox To Shuffle Managers In Ventura's Absence

(CBS) As the White Sox kick off a four-game series against the A's on Thursday, they'll be without manager Robin Ventura for the first two games.

Ventura, who will miss Thursday and Friday's contests due to his daughter's graduation in California, will be replaced by bench coach Mark Parent on Thursday and third base coach Joe McEwing on Friday.

Parent will be also absent Friday to attend his son's graduation.

Initially, Ventura said it would be pitching coach Don Cooper managing on Friday but a team spokesman confirmed McEwing will be at the helm for game two.

''I think everyone will enjoy it,'' Ventura said. ''I knew this was coming. Rick (Hahn) knew this was coming. Hopefully, it goes well. I'm not worried with it being in their hands.''
