Building Manager Charged With Attempted Rape Of Elderly Resident

(STMW) -- The north suburban manager of a Lake View neighborhood apartment building was ordered held on a $100,000 bond Friday, charged with the aggravated battery and attempted rape of a 72-year-old woman who lives in his building.

Malik Dervisevic, 36, of the 7600 block of Long in Skokie, was arrested Thursday at the apartment building where he works in the 500 block of West Belmont Avenue, according to court documents.

Dervisevic is charged with one count each of aggravated battery causing great bodily harm (to someone over 60), residential burglary, and aggravated criminal sexual abuse, according to prosecutors.

According to court records, the victim left her apartment on June 7 to go to a store, locking both locks on her door. When she returned, she noticed only one of the locks was still locked, court records show.

She went into the apartment and saw Dervisevic, who was trying to hide, court records show. He then told her to lie down on her bed and spread her legs as he unzipped his pants and exposed himself, prosecutors allege.

The two struggled before Dervisevic fled the apartment, but not before the victim suffered a fractured wrist.

She was afraid to call police, court records said, because Dervisevic had allegedly threatened her in the past. But when she sought medical attention the following day, police were called.

At a hearing Friday, bond was set at $100,000, and the judge order Dervisevic to wear an electronic monitor if he does post bail.
