Two Teens Shot In Chatham

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Two teens were hurt in a gang-related shooting Wednesday night in the South Side Chatham neighborhood.

They were standing on the sidewalk in the 8100 block of South Vernon Avenue at 9:08 p.m. when a male shooter walked up and started firing, police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said.

One boy, 17, was shot in the neck, Alfaro said. Another boy, also 17, was shot in the back. Both were taken to John H. Stroger Jr. in "stable" condition.

Authorities think the shooting may be gang-related, police said.

No one is in custody as Area South detectives investigate.
