Two Charged For Shooting Train Conductor With BB Gun

GLENDALE HEIGHTS, Ill. (STMW) -- A west suburban man and teenager have been charged with shooting a passing train conductor with an air rifle and striking the conductor on Sunday.

The conductor of a Canadian National train traveling east in the 400 block of Gregory Avenue in Glendale Heights was struck with a BB from an air rifle Sunday, according to a statement from Glendale Heights police.

Soon afterwards, officers found Carlos Alberto Lopez-Almaraz, 18; and a 15-year-old boy shooting at cans with an air rifle in the 400 block of Gregory, police said. Both admitted to shooting at the train.

Lopez-Almaraz, of Addison, and the boy, a Glendale Heights resident, were each charged with one count of aggravated battery, police said.

Lopez-Almaraz was ordered held on a $45,000 bond and transferred to the DuPage County Jail, police said. The teen was charged as a juvenile.

The conductor requested medical attention for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
