2 Police Officers Among 3 Hurt In West Side Crash

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Three people were injured – including two police officers -- when a police cruiser and another vehicle crashed early Thursday in the West Side Austin neighborhood.

The accident occurred about 3:22 a.m. at the intersection of West Polk Street and South Lavergne Avenue, said police News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines, citing preliminary information.

The two officers were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, Gaines said. The driver of the other vehicle was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County. The conditions of the injured were not immediately known, though their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, Gaines said.
