Brandon Saad Makes NHL All-Rookie Team

(CBS) -- Brandon Saad's rookie campaign was certainly a memorable one, winning the Stanley Cup and being nominated for the Calder Trophy for the league's best rookie. Saad picked up another honor as he was named to the NHL's 2012-2013 All Rookie Team.

In addition to Saad, forwards Brendan Gallagher of the Montreal Canadiens, Jonathan Huberdeau of the Florida Panthers, Jake Allen of the St. Louis Blues and defensemen Jonas Brodin of the Minnesota Wild and Justin Schultz of the Edmonton Oilers made the team.

Saad was a second-round draft pick by the Blackhawks in the 2011 Draft. Saad led all rookies with a +17 rating and ranked fifth among rookies in each of the three major scoring categories -- goals (10), assists (17) and points (27).

Voting was conducted by the Professional Hockey Writers' Association at the end of the regular season.
