Cubs Send Feldman, Clevenger To Orioles For Arrieta, Strop

(CBS) The Cubs acquired right-handed pitchers Jake Arrieta and Pedro Strop as well as four international signing slots Tuesday in two separate trades.

The team sent pitcher Scott Feldman and Steve Clevenger to the Baltimore Orioles for Arrieta, Strop and international signing bonus slot numbers three and four. In a separate trade, the Cubs acquired international signing bonus slot numbers two and three from the Houston Astros for minor league infielder Ronald Torreyes.

According to Jesse Sanchez from MLB.com, the deals will give the Cubs $963,000 in international slot money, upping their total pool to $5,520,300.

Arrieta, primarily a starting pitcher, has bounced between Baltimore and Triple-A Norfolk the last two seasons (2012-13) after winning 10 games in 2011, while Strop is 0-3 with a 7.25 ERA in 29 relief outings this year after posting 24 holds and a 2.44 ERA last season. Arrieta will report to Triple-A Iowa, while Strop will join the Cubs this week.

In a third trade Tuesday, the Cubs also sent Carlos Marmol and an international signing slot to the Dodgers for reliever Matt Guerrier.
