Tebow Tried To Break Up Hernandez Bar Fight In 2007

(CBS) According to police reports from 2007, Tim Tebow once tried to break up a bar fight involving Aaron Hernandez.

While the two attended the University of Floria together, Hernandez, then a 17-year-old freshman, reportedly punched a bouncer in the head, bursting the man's ear drum after the tight end refused to pay for his drinks at a bar in Gainesville.

A police report states a waitress at "The Swamp" brought Hernandez two drinks, which he drank but refused to pay for. After refusing to pay, Hernandez told police that bouncer Michael Taphorn got in his face and began yelling at him. When Taphorn walked away, Hernandez punched him in the side of the head.

Hernandez left after the altercation, so police initially interviewed Tebow, who was with Hernandez that night.

"Tebow stated that he witnessed the dispute," the officer wrote in the police report. "… Tebow stated that he went over to try to help resolve the conflict."

Tebow reportedly tried to calm Hernandez down, asking him to leave peacefully and trying to make arrangements to pay for the drinks.
