Beach Park Father, Son Missing Near St. Louis

Man, Son Missing Near St. Louis

ST. LOUIS (CBS) -- A north suburban man and his son are missing near St. Louis, and police have been questioning the man's wife.

WBBM Newsradio's Mike Krauser reports the Beach Park family was on vacation, and staying in a cabin near the Meramec River, southwest of St. Louis, when the wife called police, saying her husband, 36-year-old Michael Hill, and son, 16-year-old David Hill, were missing.

She said they planned to go fishing, and they lost sight of them.

St. Louis County Police Lt. Ron Varner told KMOV-TV said police used boats, foot patrols and a helicopter in an effort to find the father and son, but have found no trace of them, and have suspended the search.

"We can't find any evidence that they are in the water. They didn't have a boat, they didn't have waders. At this moment in time, we're treating them as missing persons," he said.

Police said the wife and mother has been cooperating, and they are not calling her a suspect.

Investigators said the woman had just returned from a tour of duty with the Navy.
