Police Warn Of Near West Side Robberies

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Police are searching for up to two suspects who robbed and attacked business owners and pedestrians on the Near West Side in the last two weeks.

In the four noted incidents, one or two males will approach someone, typically a pedestrian or a delivery driver, batter them and take their property. A handgun was displayed in one of the incidents, police said.

The robberies have occurred on:

-June 28 in the 100 block of South Leavitt at 8:36 a.m. and in the 100 block of South Carpenter at 3 p.m.

-July 2 in the 2200 block of West Jackson at 1:25 p.m.

-July 3 in the 2100 block of West Adams at 12:45 a.m.

Police describe the suspects as black males, between 17 and 25 years old. They stand between 5-foot-8 and 6-foot-2 and weigh between 120 and 150 pounds. At least one of them had dreadlocks.
