Woman Dies After Being Hit By Train In La Grange

LA GRANGE, Ill. (STMW) -- A woman died Saturday night after being struck by a train in west suburban La Grange.

The 25-year-old woman was pronounced dead at Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital in La Grange at 10:47 p.m. Saturday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

She was struck by the train near Stone and Burlington avenues in La Grange, the medical examiner's office said. An autopsy scheduled for Sunday will determine the cause and manner of her death.

The medical examiner's office was not releasing the woman's name as of Sunday morning.

La Grange police deferred comment to BNSF railroad police, who were investigating the incident. A BNSF spokesman could not be reached for comment Sunday morning.
