Bon Jovi Fan Gets Gift After Heart Transplant Causes Her To Miss Concert

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A Bon Jovi fan who missed the rocker's concert at Soldier Field last weekend is getting a souvenir anyway, reports WBBM's Regine Schlesinger.

Advocate Christ Medical Center says Bon Jovi is giving love a good name. 41-year-old Heather Royhl has been a loyal fan, but her ticket for last Friday's concert went unused as she lay in a hospital bed recovering from a heart transplant.

She had a stroke, infections and other medical problems that made her too sick for a transplant, but her cardiologist Gregory Macaluso says she did the impossible as her dramatic recovery made her healthy enough to undergo the operation.

Now, Bon Jovi has sent her a gift: a one-of-a-kind poster inscribed with the message: "Heather, sorry we missed you, see you next time!"

Dr. Macaluso says that is no pipe dream.

"She should be able to see many more concerts down the line," said Macaluso.

He calls Heather's story, "Miraculous."
