Firefighter Hurt In Burnside Apartment Fire

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A Chicago Fire Department lieutenant was injured during an apartment fire early Thursday in the South Side Burnside neighborhood.

The fire is being investigated as arson, officials said.

A still and box alarm was called about 1:25 a.m. for the fire in a 2 ½ story frame building at 1310 E. 93rd St., according to Fire Media Affairs.

A fire department lieutenant suffered neck and shoulder pain after being struck by roof debris from the fire, according to Fire Media Affairs. The lieutenant was taken to Little Company of Mary Hospital in Evergreen Park, in good condition.

There were no other injuries from the fire, which was still being investigated later Thursday morning.
