Police: Group Robbed 3 Loop Stores Since June

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Police are warning businesses in the Loop about a group of teen girls and women who have robbed at least three stores since late June.

In each case, the suspects try to shoplift items, then use force or threaten store employees who confront them, according to a business alert issued by Area Central detectives.

The first incident happened June 24 about 4:10 p.m., in the 0 to 100 block of North Wabash Avenue, the alert said.

The group struck again July 16 about 11:30 a.m. in the 0 to 100 block of East Madison Street. The most recent incident happened last Friday about 12:20 p.m. in the 100 block of South State Street.

Authorities describe the suspects as teen girls and women between 16 and 19 years, old operating in groups, the alert said. They have long hair and are between 5-foot-4 and 5-foot-7.

Anyone with information about the incidents should call detectives at (312) 747-8380.
