(CBS) As an NHL coach, winning two Stanley Cups in four seasons will put you in good graces with your bosses.

And Joel Quenneville’s bosses are rewarding their head coach with a contract extension, multiple reports indicate.

The Blackhawks have scheduled a news conference for Friday “to make a major team announcement” and the Tribune confirmed that announcement is an extension for Coach Q.

“It’s always good to get those things done in the summertime and sort of clear the deck to focus on hockey starting in the fall,”  general manager Stan Bowman said earlier this month when asked about Quenneville’s contract status.

Quenneville’s current contract runs thought the 2013-14 season.

There’s no word yet on the terms of the new deal.
